Viel mehr ist da nicht mehr falsch zu machen. Außer vielleicht, dass der Abstand des goldenen Buttons vom rechten Rand kleiner ist als der Abstand der Schrift vom linken?

Mir ist meine Zeit dafür zu schade aber Golem hat einen Artikel mit dem aberwitzigen Titel „Nehmen Roboter uns die Jobs weg?“, der allerhand NPD/AFD in Sci-Fi-Zeiten-Assoziationen in mir hervorruft (das ist die schlimmste spekulative Litaratur: „Wir beschäftigen uns mit Rassismus indem wir Menschen, die wirklich von Rassismus betroffen sind durch Weiße mit spitzen Ohren oder (ebenfalls weiße) Roboter ersetzen und dadurch Rassismus weiter reproduzieren“). Auch schön, das mal wieder niemand zu merken scheint, dass Maschinen/Roboter DAZU DA SIND uns die Arbeit abzunehmen. m( BGE FTW!
I finally got around to updating my portfolio site to fit the style of the blog. It’s very basic and I plan to to sub-pages for more illustrations, the projects etc. … Some day. It should also be a tinsy bit better for mobile devices (though I get almost zero visits with those) and I got rid of the <table> at last, yay!
Btw, I just learned how to do these screenshots with OSX: Cmd-Shift-4, Space, click the window. Awesome, though I’m not sure if you really need all the whitespace/shadows around it.
I played around with Mozilla’s Lightbeam yesterday, a fancy plugin that visualizes which of the websites you visit load content from the same services. This is interesting because these services could potentially spy on your browsing across sites even without the use of cookies, supercookies etc. Or at least the owner of the service knows that someone accessed a specific site at a specific point in time and loaded a specific file from their server.
Anyway, maybe it’s only my personal taste but Google seems to be one of the top companies that would be able to do this (yes, aside of NSA and all the other government agencies, obviously). So surprising, I know!
Youtube is obvious, more or less every blog includes embedded Youtube-videos (including this one). I’m thinking of countering this with preview-gifs (or static jpgs) á la Boing Boing,Nerdcore,Kotaku etc. But this convenient „Click on the gif to play the video“ seems to demand a fair bit of programming (I’m guessing IFRAME?). I’m not sure about a solution for this yet.
The more interesting thing is fonts.googleapis.com. A lot of websites of seem to load stuff from there and I think we have to thank WordPress for that. Because the build-in themes that come with WordPress connect to Googles font-hosting service even if you have customized the themes and are using you own fonts. The HTML for this is generated via PHP and while there seems to be a way to turn this off I wasn’t able to do so.
Das ist witzig, mir kam letztens das Bild in den Kopf, dass unser Medienkonsum ungefähr so ist als würden wir immer und immer wieder nur die erste Seite von einem sehr, sehr dicken Buch lesen. Es gibt hunderte, tausende von Geschichten von den diversesten Figuren, die wir erzählen könnten aber wir lesen immer nur die erste Seite (Variation auf Variation von white guy doing white guy stuff) und manchmal, ganz selten lesen wir den ersten Absatz von Seite zwei, drei oder vier nur um nach diesem ersten Absatz verschreckt wieder auf Seite eins zu blättern und da weiter zu lesen. Das ist das Äquivalent zu diesen vielen grotesken Fuck-ups wie, um nur eins von hunderten von Beispielen zu nennen, The Last Samurai, ein Film der – anscheinend – von Samurai in Japan handelt aber die Hauptperson ist … ein weißer Mann. Und wenn es dann mal nicht (nur) um einen weißen Mann geht, sind die Chancen hoch, dass er trotzdem von einem weißen Mann gespielt wird.*

Ich erspar mir da jetzt mal irgendwelche Schlüsse zu ziehen aber es ist schon gruselig zu merken, dass in Walter Moers „Die Stadt der träumenden Bücher“ (und dem Teil der sterbenslangweiligen Fortsetzung, durch den ich mit gequält habe) genau eine weibliche Figur vorkommt, eine „Schreckse“ o____O Ja klar, Drachen und irgendwelche Hundewesen und blah. Aber Frauen? Don’t be ridiculous! Auch deutsche Fantasy hat halt den Horizont einer Müslischüssel.
Sieht so aus als wird es in DS2 noch weniger Waffen geben, die nicht total bescheuert aussehen (siehe z. B auch hier) als im originalen Dark Souls (and da gab es schon gefühlt mehr völlig übertriebene Waffen als in Demon’s Souls). Ich nehm’ dann weiter das normale Schwert und level es maximal auf.
Studio Ghibli macht eine Ronja Räubertochter-Serie. Da ich daran keine Kindheitserinerungen habe, die zerstört werden könnten ist das okay. Ich glaube, das könnte was werden (auch wenn Goro Regie führt …).

Not only is this shit unreadable except for the last two comments, it is also almost impossible to find out who said what because THE NAMES ARE NOWHERE NEAR THE FUCKING COMMENTS. How hard can it be to fix this fuckup? But guess if this has been going on for years and years?

Ächz, das Schlachtvieh wählt weiter besinnungslos die Finanzdiktatur. Zu erwarten und trotzdem deprimierend. Jetzt wollen wir alle unseren Adolf, der uns vor der Krise bewahrt, oder was? Das hat schon damals nicht funktioniert und wird auch jetzt nicht funktionieren, everytime history repeats itself the price goes up and all that.
A boy discovers the strange world of the nightly city and has to overcome his fear of the dark.
The story is good if not too original but this movie is astonishingly beautiful, especially the backgrounds/matte paintings (and the sound design is really good too). Not sure about the character design but I am hard to please in that regard anyway. And I guess it’s a good thing that everybody isn’t as thin as a stick for a change.
The obvious problem with Nocturna is the depiction of female characters. There aren’t any. When I saw the trailer I somehow thought that the Cat Herder was a woman, just imagine: A strong BBW cat-like woman. But alas, he’s a guy. The very few minor (there aren’t any major) female characters – telephone ladies, hair-stylists, stars (yeah, seriously) – are as feminine, cliched and stuck in backward roles as they get. No point for you, Nocturna (obviously no PoC in fairytale land, either).
And I know that this is really over-interpreting it but I think it’s kind of scary having all these creatures who’s only purpose in life seems to be working hard to make humans (only children?) having a good night’s sleep. I hope they at least get paid well.
Nevertheless, it is an entertaining watch and very pleasing to the eye.
