Inskscape: How to split / break one object in two

Since it’s the three-bazillionst time I’m looking this up I’ll write it down here so I can find it easily.

You split an object in two at certain nodes by selecting two nodes and then pressing:

– Shift-B (Break apart at selected nodes) as pointed out on Stackexchange.
– Ctrl-Shift-K (Break apart again but the path/object this time, I guess? This always confuses me to no end, why this is a two-step process? Only the almighty SVG goddess knows)

I’ll preserve the handy graphic that user Brecht (see link above) made in case Stackexchange goes full enshittify mode in the future:

Hi! Remember #FediCard? I decided to make an illustration around one, way after it was cool and then kinda lost steam … But since it’s theme seems to only getting more relevant I decided to post it anyway in all it’s unfinished glory ^__^

I’ve long struggled with my art not being deep or political enough and while I do see a worth in giving people the chance of not thinking about terrible events for a second it still feels not enough …

„The Shadow“ now in my shop ✨

„Sleepy Reading Time“ now in the shop

A nighttime scene in a bedroom, a young person is reading in bed, their book lit by a glowing crystal lizard while and old person is dozing after reading in a nearby armchair, their feet resting on a giant dog/or wolf. There's a fox sleeping on a pile of books on a chair and a giant fish keeping guard outside the window.

I’m a German #creative person, living in #Edinburgh and #Lübeck. I’ve been sneakily changing to only using #OpenSource (#Inkscape #Krita #Scribus #Blender etc.) tools and so far no one has complained ^__^

Aside from #illustration and #GraphicDesign I’ve also been doing a lot of #3D / #fulldome work, which is a good mix!

I love #nature and #science (especially #astronomy 🤩), progressive #fantasy, #folktales and everything nerdy. #FightFascism!
